After another wildly successful race in 2010, organizers and competitors are eagerly looking forward to the 2011 Tara Llanes Classic. The fifth edition of the event is set for September 24-25, 2011, and will again be held at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort -- the beautiful, world-class skiing and mountain bike racing venue near Truckee, CA.
MEGA DH race! This course will be challenging in all aspects of ability. You will need to have technical skills, you will need to feel comfortable at high speeds, AND you will need to bring your fitness! This race is meant to be a super fun downhill, but long enough that you wish you had an extra lung. Go as fast or as slow as you want but Pro's remember you are going to be fighting for the CASH!
Our race is open to Pro/Cat.1/Cat.2/Cat.3 with 19 different classes. Pro men and women as well as Cat.1 racers will be in the Mega DH course from top to bottom. Cat.2 and Cat.3 racers your start will be at the Mega DH start, however you will race on a different course than the Cat.1 and Pro riders. Your course was designed for your level of racer.

The Tara Llanes Classic provides world-class competition for both pros and amateurs. Proceeds from entry fees and donations will benefit the Tara Llanes Road to Recovery Foundation, the Reeve-Irvine Research Center (RIRC), and new for 2011 is C.O.R.E. – the Center for Restorative Exercise. Each of these organizations is instrumental in the treatment and therapy of spinal cord injuries.
